 Senior Information/Scholarships

CVCC has a Future Leaders Male Minority Scholarship that is available to graduating seniors.  The application is in the guidance office.  Students must apply to CVCC by March 1, 2017,  They must complete the scholarship application by March 1, 2017, They must have an overall C average, There is an essay that needs to be typed titled “The importance of being an African
American/Minority Male Leader in the community (maximum 500 words) also Due March 1, 2017.  There is an interview process as well and this will take place for finalists from March 24,2017 until April 7,2017. 

Columbus State University Spring open house is Saturday, February 25, 2017 and Spring Preview day is Monday, March 13, 2017.  Register today at ColumbusState.edu/visit.

The Pitts Academic Scholarship Competition is available for incoming freshman at Andrew College.  The minimum requirements are a 3.0 or higher GPA and SAT score of 500 evidenced-based reading and writing and 500 math, or ACT 19 English, Math and composite 19.  They must also have a record of leadership and or service to school, community or church.  The deadline for submission of completed application is March 10, 2017.  Applications are available in the guidance office.  Andrew College will award 2 scholarships once all applications have been processed.    Please see Mrs. DeLucca or Mrs. Watson.  GOOD LUCK!!!!!

The State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship doesn’t require a high GPA, but rather focuses on students who are leaders and volunteers in their communities and demonstrate financial need.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a 2017 graduating high school senior.

  • High school seniors must have a cumulative GPA between a 2.5 and 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.

  • Plan to enroll full-time for the 2017-18 academic year at an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university or vocational-technical school.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen

 The "Aspiring Fashion Professional" Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college.  Interested students can visit this link www.fashion-schools.org and find the scholarship located at the bottom of the page and click on it.

The "Aspiring Animation Professional" Scholarship Program.

This is the 5th year we are awarding this scholarship for AnimationCareerReview.com. We are offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship.  This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an accredited post-secondary school or college. The scholarship will be on the right side of the page and click on it.

Student Insights is sponsoring a scholarship contest for high school seniors.  The 2017 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering $11,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community or junior college or career school.  To apply log on to www.student-view.com and complete the 15 to 20 minute application survey about colleges in your area.  The scholarship will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications.  The scholarship winner will be announced May, 2017.  The deadline to apply is April 22,2017.    There will be one $4,000 scholarship, two $1,000 scholarships and ten $500 scholarships awarded.

The College Counts Scholarship was created to help more Alabama high school students pay for an education at a 2 year or 4 year Alabama School.  Applications for seniors going to college fall 2017 will be accepted December 1, 2016 through March 1, 2017.  There is over $1 million to award in 2017.  For more information please visit treasury.alabam.gov/collegecounts-scholarship .

The Fort Benning Community Spouses Club is awarding scholarships to local high school seniors whose parent(s) are military and reside in the Fort Benning community.  I have attached a flyer that provides a link to access the Scholarship Guidelines and Application.  We also have a Facebook page that students can find information as well – Fort Benning Community Spouses Club.  Last year we awarded over $34,000 to high school seniors and continuing education students.  Please share with your students.  Feel free to contact me at scholarship@fortbenningcsc.org if you have any questions. 

The friends and family of Kelleigh Meredith have established an annual scholarship in her memory for students in the communities of East Alabama.  This scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation of East Alabama.  To be eligible for consideration of the scholarship, a student must:  Have a minimum GPA of 305, must be a resident of Lee County,  Must be on tract to graduate from Auburn High, Beauregard High, Smiths Station High or Opelika High.  Have evidence of leadership, sportsmanship, or good citizenship, preference will be given to a female student, however the gender of the applicants shall not be the controlling factor in awarding the scholarship, each scholarship is a one-time award and prior recipients are not eligible for additional awards.  This year there will be two possible Kelleigh Meredith Scholarships given in the amount of $500.  Please see Mrs. DeLucca in the guidance office for an application.  Applications are due by April 15.

Seniors may apply for consideration for The Four Seasons Federal Credit Union Scholarship.  The student must be a  senior who have a parent that is a member or they themselves are members of the credit Union.  The student must have a least a 2.5 GPA and must be accepted to a college or university.  The student must obtain three letters of recommendation and 2 of those have to be from school faculty or administration.  The student must submit a typed essay of no more than 250 words explaining career objectives and explain why they wish to be considered for this scholarship. There are applications located in the guidance office.  All applications and recommendations are due to the guidance office no later than April 5th.    Please see Mrs. DeLucca for an application.

This contest is open to Alabama high school seniors and students enrolled in two or four year colleges or universities. There are three prizes that will be awarded, 1st place is $2,000 2nd place is $1,200 and third is $1,000. Participants must submit an essay of at least 1,000 words. The topic for the essay is How can we educate our community about the dangers of distracted driving and what are some practical ways we can drastically reduce distracted driving related accidents?

The contest is open now and the deadline is April 21st, 2017.
